Headed from Rotorua to Waihi Beach where we had a free night at the Waihi RSA Club. Two other vans parked there. We explored the beach, plus Bowentown reserve which is really nice. Did a nice walk to the top of the hill which gives a good view of Waihi Beach, and further down the coast. Lovely little bay at Bowentown and lots and lots of pohutakawa trees which are laden with buds about to burst in flower. Would love to have been there when they did. Had dinner at the RSA club that night. No-one befriended us, so we went back to the van afterwards. Set off next morning and explored Waihi township on the way through. It's a really interesting little place, with the big opencast mine, the old water tower, and lots of beautiful statues and murals through the town. I've only driven through it before, so good to have stopped this time. This is our last stop in the van. Next stop will be at Craig & Sue's, and a catch up with all the family on our way back to Paparoa. It's been a fabulous holiday & I have LOTS of photos to sort out. Hope you have enjoyed our 'blog' and it has given you some insight into our travels.
